Elena Oberg joined KBR in October 2019 and serves as the Chief of Staff for KBR’s National Security Solutions Business Unit. The business unit supports over 3,500personnel across 21 global locations with annual revenue of approximately $1.3B. In her role, Elena guides all organization-level processes and integrates 32 executive and functional leaders. She is also a Principal Systems Engineer and Program Manager who leads a team of national subject matter experts in delivering cutting-edge geospatial intelligence capabilities for the National Air and Space Intelligence Center at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. 

Elena retired as a Colonel from the United States Air Force in the summer of 2019.During her 26-year Air Force career, she served as the Vice Commander of Air Force Research Laboratory and the Vice Commander of the 88 Air Base Wing both located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Elena served on the Joint Staff, was a Squadron Commander, and a Group Air Officer Commanding and the Basic Cadet Training commander at the United States Air Force Academy. 

Her professional accomplishments include leading the mission team responsible for hardware delivery and successful launch of the first Titan IVB rocket, leading a 140-person joint space operations crew providing simultaneous support to warfighters around the world, and helping acquire a next generation imaging satellite system. She also was the Chief of Current Operations for the Joint Interagency Task Force-South and helped close the 24th Operations Group in preparation for the Panama Canal zone’s transition to the Panamanian Government. 

Elena holds a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, a master’s degree in systems engineering, and a master’s degree in strategic studies. She currently resides in Yellow Springs, Ohio, and is married to Erik Oberg and has two sons.
