What is WIA?
For 40 years, Women in Aerospace (WIA) has been dedicated to expanding women’s opportunities for leadership and increasing their visibility in the aerospace community, both in the US and internationally.
Our membership, with a reach of over 18,000 individuals, is open to everyone, sharing an interest in a broad spectrum of aerospace issues.

- Guest speakers the past few years included Lt Gen DeAnna Burt, Deputy Chief of Space Operations for Operations, Cyber, and Nuclear, USSF; The Honorable Frank Calvelli, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Space Acquisition and Integration; The Honorable Pamela Melroy, Deputy Administrator of NASA; NASA Center Directors: Dr. Laurie Leshin (JPL), Ms. Janet Petro (JFK), Ms. Jody Singer (MSFC), and Ms. Vanessa Wyche (JSC); The Honorable Heather Wilson, 24th Secretary of the U.S. Air Force; and The Honorable Deborah Lee James, 23rd Secretary of the U.S. Air Force.
- WIA’s Breakfast Club: Policy Talks! series held 1-2 times per year, features thought-provoking discourse and responses from select key Congressional Committees professional staffers.
- Panel topics have included defense and national security issues; human space flight and other civil and commercial space issues; aviation issues, including air traffic management modernization and aviation security; science and technology policy and budgetary issues; and much more;
- Professional Development topics in 2025 include: Foundational Leadership Skills: Career Development Strategies, Turn Conflicts into Opportunities; and Lead Effective Meetings and Deliver Impactful Presentations; offered conveniently online as part of our Career Empowerment webinar series where you can earn a Women in Aerospace Career Empowerment Certificate!
- Annual Awards Dinner & Ceremony is an annual event dedicated to celebrating women’s professional excellence in aerospace. The Awards Ceremony is WIA’s premiere event of the year, honoring women and their allies whose outstanding contributions to the aerospace community are legendary.
