THE 34th WOMEN IN AEROSPACE AWARDS HONORS FIVE EXCEPTIONAL WOMEN ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND INDUSTRY.
 
Washington, D.C. – Women in Aerospace (WIA), a leading professional organization dedicated to expanding women's opportunities for leadership, education and visibility in the aerospace community, is proud to honor five remarkable women for their contributions to the aerospace industry and to the advancement of women in the field. In lieu of the cancellation of the 34th Annual WIA Awards Dinner, our 2020 Awardees will be highlighted each day of the week between tomorrow and next Friday, December 18. They will also be recognized at the 35th Annual WIA Awards Dinner & Ceremony scheduled for Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City Hotel in Arlington, VA.
 
The WIA Awards celebrate women's professional excellence in aerospace, annually recognizing female leaders who have made outstanding contributions to the aerospace community

 
The 2020 Women in Aerospace Award recipients are:
 
OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: Dr. Nicole Wagner, Farmington, CT, is recognized for her exceptional leadership, creativity in expanding the boundaries of space-based research, and generous support for young women in aerospace.
 
AEROSPACE AWARENESS AWARDTerita Norton, Chantilly, VA, is recognized for her exemplary leadership skills, significant contributions to the industry, and dedication to the advancement of women in aerospace over her career.
 
INITIATIVE, INSPIRATION, IMPACT AWARD: Emily Smith, Salt Lake City, UT, is recognized for her excellence and drive of leading edge defense technology to new heights, providing protection to our airborne armed forces.
 
LEADERSHIP AWARD: Kathryn Lueders, NASA Headquarters, Washington, D.C., is recognized for her unprecedented vision and unparalleled leadership that has enabled others to succeed in a new era of space exploration with public-private partnerships.
 
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: Lori Garver, Washington, D.C., is recognized for her courageous leadership and dedication to a revitalized, valuable and sustainable aerospace industry and her tenacious advocacy for the advancement of women and gender minorities in the field. As a longtime leader and role model in the aerospace industry, Garver has made it her personal mission to continue to create a more diverse workforce, as she did when co-founding the Brooke Owens Fellowship. 
 
This year, the Award Selection Committee, comprised of volunteers from the industry, government and nonprofit/academia, reviewed over 100 women nominated across five award categories – a new record for WIA! Each of these women serve as an inspiration to our community.
 
As part of the Awards Ceremony, the Women in Aerospace Foundation will also present four merit-based scholarships to promising young women who will serve as the next generation of female leaders in the aerospace industry.

Sydney Marler, Stanford University
Tinevimbo Ndlovu, Saint Louis University
